More Snow and a Sleepover...

Today is Saturday, it started snowing yesterday around 9:00 a.m. and snowed steadily until I went to bed last night at 10:00 p.m. and we ended up with about 10 inches of snow.

So, yesterday I took the day off of work because I have all my vacation time again (I ran out last year) and I didn't want to deal with a commute. Also, I had a date for a sleepover with my niece’s children, Devin 8, Kyle 5 and Gabrielle 1...we are day two into the sleepover.

Yesterday, we went to the market to get some stuff and a woman say me and said "You must be brave" because I had these three wonderful children. Well, don't you know that the 8 and 5 year old needed to have EVERYTHING that they saw at the supermarket and the 1 year old kept tossing her pacifier...mind you her mom only packed one and she can't go to sleep without it.

I thought that I was Super Auntie yesterday, we made it all the way through check out with only a couple of "Must Haves" for the boys and we had a Binky that didn't get lost.

Well, between getting out to the car and making sure that the boys didn't get hit by cars that didn't clean the snow off the windows and the plow trucks cleaning the parking lot, we made it to the car in one piece.

I then proceeded to load the groceries into the car and realized that somewhere between the checkout counter and my car we lost the Binky...the horror of it hit me when I called my niece and she said that Gabrielle would not sleep without the exact same Binky...I went to Walgreens, CVS and back to Shaws and couldn't find this particular brand of Binky. I grabbed a brand at Shaws and prayed for the best. Thank goodness it worked!! She took it without complaint.

My hat goes off to all the Mothers out there...It is almost 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, I still have not taken a shower, I've been up since 4:30 a.m. (my mistake, Gabrielle lost her Binky and instead of finding it and giving it to her I picked her up--it's all over after you pick her up!) I made the boys breakfast at 7:00 a.m. took Gabrielle up for a nap at 9:00 a.m. (we both napped and the boys were thrilled that they could play Xbox while we napped) woke up at 11:00 a.m. and played for an hour. Then I made lunch, got the boys dressed to go out and "shovel" they are getting paid by Uncle Michael (and they did a great job for an 8 & 5 year old--Uncle Michael is going to have to fix it when he comes home) I tried to get Gabrielle down for her second nap at 2:00 p.m., she just layed there and stuck her fingers in my mouth and occasionally slapping my face (I figured if it would help her sleep...that's ok)so I brought her downstairs and she is in the process of using her brothers as jungle gyms.

WOW!! I still need to get them ready to go out to dinner and my house is a total mess!! Between food on the sofa, on the floor, dishes everywhere and never mind the laundry!!

I told Michael that if this is what it's going be like when Alison comes home I'm in big trouble...talk about a reality slap...I'm getting one this weekend. Although today I have 3 and when Alison comes home I'll only have one.

It really has been a great weekend so for and I wouldn't change a thing.

Sisters...

I have two and they are my best friends. Will we be able to have a sister for Alison? My mother always told me that if you have no one else in this life you have each other and that is so true.

I've been spending a lot of time with my sister Cindy and she is the rock that I need, the shoulder to cry on and to just laugh or cry when I need to...she doesn't ask and she never pressures, she has no expectations and is just there for me...I just don't know what I would do without her.

My other sister Lisa has been calling a lot lately and it's so nice to have that contact again with my older sister. Life happens and we can sometimes lose touch with one another, but we know that we are just a phone call away...you start talking and it's like we last talked only yesterday.

I hope we can have a sister for Alison...sisters are the best friends that you could ever ask for, they are irreplaceable and you have each other for all of life’s ups and downs.

This post if for my sisters...I love you both.

It's a Fuv-voo...

Not a Woobbie!!

I've just been told that in our family we call a woobbie a Fuv-voo and I needed to get that strait before Alison comes home!!

We received a really cute Fuv-voo from my January Secret Buddy back in January and when my sister saw the post on my blog she called to tell me that I had it completely wrong. My nephew Alex created this name for his favorite little blanket and this is what they will be called from now on.

Sorry Alexander...I'll try to get this right!

Fuv-Voo; Fuv-Voo; Fuv-Voo...I just need to keep the chant going....Fuv-Voo...hehehe

Another Milestone Met...

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to us!!

Today marks a very important milestone for Michael and me. It is one year ago today that we have been logged into the CCAA. This is the date we were officially on the waiting list for Alison. We are one year closer to becoming a family.

Happy New Year...The Year of the Rat 2008...

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Rate (Earth) begins today February 7, 2008 and ends on January 25, 2009. This is the first cycle of 12 Animal signs. The Rat years begins the sequence and recurs every twelfth year. It is a time of renewal.

A Rat Year is a time of hard work, activity and renewal. This is a good year to begin a new job, get married, launch a product or make a fresh start. Ventures begun now may not yield fast returns but opportunities will come for people who are well prepared and resourceful. The best way for you to succeed is to be patient, let things develop slowly and make the most of every opening you can find.

People born in an Earth Rat are said to be logical realists, shrewd, charming, ambitious and inventive.

In Chinese, the Rat is respected and considered a courageous, enterprising person. People born in the Year of Rat are clever and bright, sociable and family-minded. They have broad interests and strong ability in adapting to the environment and able to react adequately to any change.

They are gifted in many ways and have an easy going manner. They are active and pleasant, tactful and fantastic and are able to grasp opportunities. They seem to have interests in everything and hope to participate in doing it and usually do it very well.

I found this picture on the internet and I liked the story behind the picture.

Candle magic has always been popular. Most people have experienced the feeling of being fascinated by the flickering flame of a candle. Anyone who has blown out a birthday candle and made a wish has performed candle magic. Sit down in a comfortable chair and watch the candle burn. Visualize as clear as you can whatever it is you have wished. Watch the flickering flame and image the things that you have wished for already in your possession. Just like these lucky Rats, may your wishes for good things in life come true.

I like the magic candle. I wonder if Alison will be born in the year of the rat...

Alison

It will be one year next Friday that we will be LID (Log in Date) with the CCAA. For one year I've been tossing around names and bouncing them off of Michael.

We both decided that we would wait to see our referral picture before we decided on a name for our daughter and we will. That being said, I'm tired of referring to her as our DD or dear daughter and I really want to give her a name to help me feel that she is real and she is going to come home to us.

So as of today, our daughters temporary name is going to be Alison, this name may stick forever and it may change once we receive our referral picture...we will just have to wait and see.

I need to make her more real today, because today is a bad wait day...it's dark and gloomy outside and it's the same in my heart...I'm so worried about everything that is happening in China, the Natural Disasters...weather wise they are having major snow/ice storms in area's that don't usually get cold weather, the children not getting the proper care, food, diapers, heat...

The major slow downs in referrals, the CCAA supposedly let go a lot of staff people from the review and matching rooms as well as other areas. I worry that this program that we have put all of our hopes and prayer and especially dreams of becoming a family may close down...maybe not this year, but what about next year and we will still be waiting and we will be getting older...

So, yes, I need to make my Alison REAL and giving her a name now makes her more real than just my dear daughter without a name.

We love you Alison and will wait for you to come home.

Referrals

It's official. The CCAA has referred up to December 27, 2005 this month. Next months we should hopefully be out of 2005 and starting in on the 2006 referrals.
