Where does all the time go...

I've been back from vacation since Saturday and I just can't seem to find the time to get ANYTHING done around my house!!

The good news first--Cosmo is 100% better. She seems to be back to her normal self and following me around like a little puppy dog just wanting to sit on my lap. She did get sick last night - ON MY BED AT 4:30 a.m.!! But looked okay when I put down breakfast.

My gardens are SO OVER GROWN!!!! We had so much rain and humidity when I was gone and I haven't had an opportunity to get out in the gardens since I've been back that my tomatoes are disappearing in the weeds. I'll be going out after work tonight to hopefully untangle them and pull lots of weeds and it's a hot one today 90+ with humidity. I didn’t think that they would make it when I transplanted Mama Dollo's plant--but they look good. We have 28 tomato plants so hopefully I'll get a lot canned for the winter and some nice homemade gravy.

The real gross news:
When I was out in CA with mom, Michael shipped us live lobsters and steamers to surprise my aunt who is originally from New England, but transplanted to CA when she got married 50 years ago. She LOVES steamers!

FedEx is the only company that will ship live things. We have used them many times in the past for this same purpose and everything has been fine.

We were supposed to get our surprise package on Friday. Now mind you we were in the high desert and at 2:00 p.m. (which gets very hot that time of day) we had no delivery. So I called to track the package. I was told that we would not get our package until Saturday and that we could put in a claim. I asked that they cancel the delivery, because the lobsters and steamers would be dead on Saturday and they would be no good to us a day late.

I flew home on Saturday morning and mom asked that I called her when I got in (she is still in CA). They received a special delivery of DEAD seafood on Saturday. There was no knock on the door; no ring of the bell...the package was just left by the front door. My cousin found the package around 3:00 p.m. I can't even imagine what this must have smelled like and they didn't have a trash pickup until MONDAY!

I felt so bad for the lobsters and steamers!! What a way to go!!! At least if they are put in steaming water they die fairly quickly, but to just die of heat exposure!!! OMG!!

I told Aunt Helen that I would have to make it up to her when she comes home with mom next week...I just hope that she can eat them after all this!!
