Lets start at the beginning

Michael and I were married in 2004. We are currently in the process of adopting our first child from China. We started the paper process back in August 2006. There were many documents that needed to be collected as well as doctors appointments, once the doctor appointments were complete and all the other paperwork (birth certificates; marriage license; employment verification; 2005 tax documents)--then everything had to be notarized, verified by the Secretary of States Office here in Boston--THEN all of this paperwork went to the Chinese Consulate in New York to be Authenticated--Whew!!

Our paperwork was finally done--notarized and verified and authenticated in January 2007. Our adoption agency sends paperwork to China once per month and we were lucky enough to make the deadline for applications--so we didn't have to wait until the following month.

We were DTC (Dossier to China) on January 31, 2007--this is the official start of our journey. We received word that our dossier was logged in with the China Center for Adoption Affairs (CCAA) on February 15, 2007--so this is our official day 1 of our wait for our daughter.

Currently the wait for a referral of a child from China is 18-19 months--so as of this post we are four months into our wait. When we started this process the wait was 15 months and we are told that the wait will get longer before it gets better.

So now the rollercoaster ride begins!
