Leap of Faith...

The only thing you can do in life when you have no solid or concrete answers is to take a leap of faith...

Please lord, let this leap of faith work for Michael and I.

It's amazing how many people truly care, from corners that you would never expect.

Thank you.

Update: It's important to remember that you both need to take that leap together in order for it to work...maybe next time...

We Missed The Party...

I can't believe that Eric and I missed the free radio station party!!

We ended up driving into Boston and parked at Government Center. Then we took the train over to Copley...but the Copley station was closed because of the Marathon. We got off at the next stop and that stop was beyond the finish line...and the roads were all blocked off.

So I found the Prudential building and I told Eric that we had to walk that way...well don't you know, we walked and walked through the thick crowds, came up to the finish line and realized that we were on the wrong side of the street and the streets were all blocked off and you couldn't get to the other side!! The party was on the other side!!

I had an appointment today that I couldn't miss at 3:30 so we had to turn around and come home...I'm so disappointed that we didn't get there, I know that Eric would have had a good time.

So, we took the train back to Faneuil Hall and had lunch and then came home.

Sorry Eric...I owe you a day out!!

Here is my boy...he is 14 going on 15...

Boston Marathon Monday...

I won two passes to attend a Boston Marathon Party at work that is being put on from radio station WZLX 100.7 FM, so my nephew Eric and I are going to take the train into town for the day and have a little bit of a party at the finish line of the Marathon...it's 60 out today so it will be a beautiful day.

We are watching the start on television...it's funny, my company used to own the building at the start of the marathon and all the press would use our conference rooms and we would have an open house for our members...I took my niece Nicole one year and I lost her in the crowd...freaked me out...I think she was 12. Eric is 14 going on 15 (yes, that's how he says it...to funny) and I will be keeping a close tab on him today. Lance Armstrong is running today...maybe we will get a picture of him too.

I'll post pictures when we get back. Here is the link to the marathon home page showing the front runners: http://www.bostonmarathon.org/

Gumpy's are the best and Nana's too!

Thank you Gumpy (that's my dad and Alison's Gumpy). Mom and Dad came down over the weekend and dad started work in Alison's room!! The room has stood empty and ugly for almost a year with stripped walls and newly redone floors...so the floors looked great and everything else was awful.

Gump started to skim coat the walls and said that he would come down and paint when that was done...mom and dad live two hours away!

I'm starting to get excited about the room...I've left everything bare because I couldn't deal with a completed nursery...so now that we are starting, I can paint and decorate with some of the things that our secret buddy's have sent us for Alison as well as some things that I've purchased.

I'm going to the Unfinished Furniture Store in Raymond NH with mom in a couple of weeks. I want to get some solid bookcases that I can paint outside now that the weather is getting nicer and I'm going to look at some bedroom pieces for our room...it's a lot of work but I like that fact that it's solid wood and not just some kind of pressed board...and I can buy one piece at a time so that it won't break the bank.

Mom gave me some good idea's too for the baby's room. I'm planning on decorating more for a young girl...not necessarily a baby.

Alison's room has two large walk in closets...one is cedar for storage and the other is a large walk in with poles on both sides. I'm planning on putting the bureau in the closet between the two poles and mom suggested that I take the door off and make it more like an alcove instead of a closet. I'm liking that idea but I'm not sure if Michael will like it. Then I could put a bookcase/shelving on one side that will have baskets on the upper shelves for Alison's hats and other things and bookshelves below for all her books.

I also want to get some beanbag chairs so that when we read a story we can sack out on the beanbag chairs and those can go on the other side of the closet/alcove...the more I think about it the more I like it or we can always make room in there for either a toy box or a doll house. When she gets older we can put the door back on the closet if that is what she wants. If I store the door in the eves I wouldn't need to be concerned about moister like I would if we put it in the basement.

I think I'm going to have to play around a bit more with this idea but I'm liking it! Thanks Mom!

I'm getting ready to pull my hair out...

Michael and I are in the process of renewing all of our paperwork with immigration and I've forwarded everything off to our agency for processing back in March. I have to say that our adoption agency has really been wonderful from day one...but for what every reason, they want different statements about the little "incident" that Michael had when he was 18 years old.

This week I had Michael send off a THIRD signed statement about the incident and what happened and this is all holding up our paperwork from being submitted to CIS!

I guess that I don't understand why the agency wants more information than we have already given them. He had an open container in public at 18...he was fined $20 and the case was dismissed...I really don't know why or what more information they want...they keep telling me to be more specific...how much more specific can you get?? I was originally told to just re-date the first letter that we wrote and that would be fine...well lets see if three times is truly a charm.

I have read horror stories from other blogs about agencies and I've always thanked my lucky starts that I picked my agency...

Secret Buddy Swap...Round Two...

You all know about the secret buddy swaps that I've participated in and how they really help to pass the time as we await Alison. These swaps also help to get to know the others in our group better.

My 2007FebruaryDTC yahoo group has just started our round two swap...if you remember I had the Groves family for my first buddy who are already back form China with their second daughter. Now we have a new buddy...I wonder who they are?? Time will tell and they have already started with a bang!

This swap is an every other month swap and the theme for April was Ladybugs or spring...look what we got for Alison:

Thank you Secret Buddy! I love all the lady bugs, they are just the cutest!
